Canadian Pet Dealer Fined $10,000 For Smuggling Fish Into New York
When is the last time you remember being in a pet shop? Were you buying pet food? Maybe you were just looking at toys for your dog. Well hopefully you weren't buying any fish from this guy. A Canadian pet dealer won't be playing “Go Fish” anytime soon. He recently got fined by federal and state authorities in New York after being caught shipping them illegally.
U.S. Attorney Williams J. Hochul Jr. in Buffalo says 50-year-old Muk Leung Ip of Toronto was fined a total of $10,000 and ordered to pay $3,000 in restitution for sending 180 of the predatory giant snakehead fish in two shipments in 2011.”
Snakehead fish are not local to this area. they come from Southeast Asia.
Fact: they can grow more than 3-feet long. Also these things are not friendly, they eat other fish, frogs, and insects. Why in the world would you even buy one?
