I love Fall, I really do…except for….wait for it…RAKING LEAVES!!!

I have 2 trees that generate a buttload of leaves (exactly how much is a buttload?) Most of them have taken the dive and have either been raked up, or mowed over.  Luckily, I don’t have neighbor’s leaves falling into my yard.

While some choose to let them lie where they fall, others want to get rid of them.

One option is leaving the leaves alone, or mowing them as you cut the lawn. That will act as a fertilizer for the grass.

One thing you can’t do, if you live in the city limits, is burn them.  That’s right.  People do it every year, though, because they don’t want to take the time and effort to bag them, or rake them to the curb.  Where I live, burning is extremely risky because, as we all know with CNY weather, a good gust of wind could come up and really get that fire going.  Then you could possibly burn your house or someone else’s.

Remember that burning your leaves is illegal and you can be fined for doing it.  If you have questions about burning leaves in your area, contact your local fire department.
