Bungie's latest update to Destiny improves the items you receive from Master Rahool, the notorious Cryptarch who makes Guardians cry, and hints at the possibility of raid matchmaking in the future.

In the update, Bungie Community Manager Deej touches on the improvements made to the Cryptarch, the wonderful non-player character who decodes mysterious engrams and turns them into items for the player. Before, the results left a bad taste in players' mouths as they would approach him with rare or even legendary engrams only to be left with items of inferior quality. Now the items will match the quality of the engram from which it came. Happy looting for all.

In the Sack, which is the section for fan questions, a player named Rob requested that there be raid matchmaking. Deej said, "You don’t need to sell us too hard on the value of Matchmaking at Bungie. It’s something we helped to pioneer. Yet, we understand its limitations. In the recipe of a Bungie game, Matchmaking has always contributed the ingredient of a team built to play one match of competitive multiplayer. As you’ve probably witnessed in recent weeks (or years), many of those fresh allies have failed to go the distance together."

He went on to explain how raids were designed for teams of skilled individuals who worked well together and how many Fireteams have mentioned that one weak link could fudge up the works. Still, there are also stories of complete strangers coming together and taking on mighty challenges, emerging as victors at the end.

In any event, Deej said, "We’re having conversations about how Matchmaking might support the more challenging activities in Destiny. It’s a start. Keep sounding off about it, and maybe someday some matchmade Fireteam mates will hear you, too."

And so raid matchmaking could come to an update in the future. We'll keep you posted, Guardians, should any more information about it surface.
