Parents of high school juniors and seniors have the opportunity to attend an informational event about applying for financial aid.

Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi and representatives from the State Higher Education Services Corporation (HESC) will host the meeting to help educate students and parents about different types of financial aid and how to apply.

The meeting will be held at Mohawk Valley Community College on January 30, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. in room 225 of the Information and Technology Building.

Financial aid experts from local colleges will also be on hand to help fill out aid applications and answer questions.

Brindisi said high school Seniors and their parents that want to apply at the event should bring their financial records with them.

HESC, New York's student financial aid agency, has a campaign called "Start Here, Get There," to teach students and families about financial aid for college, and about completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
