Bob Dylan's raucous 1966 tour with the Band will be the focus of a sweeping new box set simply called The 1966 Live Recordings. The project spans a stunning 36 discs, providing deep insight into a critical moment in rock history as Dylan pushed forward with a new electric sound.

Most of The 1966 Live Recordings, save for a concert at Manchester and a few other performances, has never been released. Highlights include "Tell Me, Momma," which was regularly performed onstage that year but never released on a studio album. You can hear the song above from a May 26, 1966, performance, just before the arrival of Dylan's Blonde on Blonde.

The treasure trove of material was discovered by Legacy Recordings while putting together another recent box set. "While doing the archival research for The Cutting Edge 1965-1966: The Bootleg Series Vol. 12, last year's box set of Dylan's mid-'60s studio sessions, we were continually struck by how great his 1966 live recordings really are," Legacy president Adam Block said in a statement (via Rolling Stone). "The intensity of Bob's live performances and his fantastic delivery of these songs in concert add another insightful component in understanding and appreciating the musical revolution Bob Dylan ignited some 50 years ago."

The 1966 Live Recordings, which will be released in several formats on Nov. 11, features concerts played in the U.S., the U.K. and Europe. Sources include CBS Records mobile recordings, audience tapes and soundboards. More details on each disc can be found below.

Dylan's first Royal Albert Hall show from this period will also be released as a stand-alone album. Another show misidentified as being from Royal Albert Hall -- it was actually recorded at the Manchester Free Trade Hall -- was part of Dylan's Bootleg Series in 1998. The Real Royal Albert Hall 1966 Concert is set to arrive as a double-LP vinyl set on Nov. 25, followed by a two-disc CD release on Dec. 2.
