Beautiful Locally Grown Poinsettias

Poinsettias are the most popular plant for the holiday season. Did you know that many are grown right here in Marcy?

Right up the road from the Townsquare Media studios in Marcy is River Road Farm and Greenhouses. The owner, Jan Barendse took me on a tour and told me how long it takes to grow these beautiful flowers.

Jan told us that he starts growing the bigger poinsettias in July...They take 14-16 weeks for them to flower. The poinsettia trees he starts in March. They're easy to take care of. Just water every few days and they can last until Easter. A fairly new color is Ice Crystal...

If you order your poinsettias from local fundraisers, then they may have come from River Road Farm and Greenhouses.
