The Utica Zoo Brewfest With 96.1 The Eagle

This a fantastic fundraiser Saturday, August 5th, from 6 - 9 pm. Sample over a hundred craft beers on tap including “Zoo York State IPA” from Woodland Farm Brewery, an IPA made from 100% New York State ingredients. This is the zoo’s largest adult fundraiser of the year and is limited to the first 3000 people. Tickets include pint glass, beer, cider, and wine samples, admission to the zoo, live music by China Pig and Soup Bone Charlie, food samples from Applebee’s, Domino’s, Celtic Harp, and UNO Pizzeria & Grill. Participate in the silent auction inside the zoo’s auditorium, where you can bid on and win electronics, gift certificates, lawn & garden equipment, jewelry, and more. Drums Along The Mohawk

For over 38 years, Music for Kids, Inc., the non-profit parent corporation of Drums Along the Mohawk, has provided premier summertime entertainment by world-class drum and bugle corps.  Schuyler’s Car And Corn Show

August 5th, at 282 Wood Lane in Utica, is the 19th Annual Corn and Car Show with lots of activities for all ages. There’s face painting, a bounce house, a hula hoop contest, petting zoo and you could win $1,000.00 while eating corn on the cob!

      • 4:30 – Gates open and wine slushies start flowing with plenty of food vendors.
      • 5:00 – Corn eating qualification starts, car show opens and the hula hoop contest.

American Cancer Society’s ‘Bark For Life’

The American Cancer Society is hosting their ‘Bark For Life‘ on Saturday, August 5th in Forestport, NY.  Help fight cancer with your best friend at your side. Bark For Life is a quarter-mile and one-mile non-competitive walk on a preplanned route from 9 am to Noon starting at KevAnna’s on Route 28. There will be games, contests, giveaways, raffles, vendors, and so much more before and after the walk, including a pet/owner look-a-like contest, doggie push-ups, and the fastest retrieve contest. There will also be a demonstration from the Oneida County Sherriff’s Department K-9 Unit. Registration begins at 9 am and the walk starts at 10 am. The ten-time Grammy winner is playing Saturday, August 5th at Bethel Woods, NY. The next chance to catch a show is at Turning Stone Respot Casino on the 16th. Santana's Transmogrify Tour kicked off on June 23 in Woodinville, Washington.

Otsego County Fair in Morris

The Otsego County Fair is underway this week in Morris NY. Saturday is Children's Day and they'll give away 100 bikes to kids who need them. Registration begins at 1 pm. On Sunday see the demolition derby in the Grandstand at 1 pm and again at 6 pm. the Gillett mid-way also offers one price rides from 12- 5 pm.

Dressed to the Nines: Williams-Proctor Fashions 

With this free event you can see luxurious silk gowns, finely tailored suits, and children’s mourning attire will be featured in the museum’s period room settings. This will be the first time that a selection of clothing worn by the Williams-Proctor women will be exhibited at the museum. Their wardrobes, like those of other women of the Victorian era, display a sophisticated balancing act among requirements of fashion, etiquette, status and personal taste.
