Autograph Drummer Keni Richards Dead at 60

The music world has lost another rock vet, as Keni Richards (seen center above), the original drummer for ’80s band Autograph, has passed away. Richards was 60 and an official cause of death was not revealed.

The news was revealed by founding Autograph guitarist Steve Lynch, who alerted fans via the band’s social media account. “He was the mighty force that was our backbone 1983-1988,” stated the guitarist. “We wish him a pleasant and peaceful journey. Our love and condolences to his family and friends. He will be missed greatly.” See the message below:

Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan also shared his sorrow over Richards’ passing, stating, “Keni will be missed. An amazing soul and funny as hell. Damn. Love you Keni.” His tweet can be seen below.

Autograph enjoyed their breakout with 1984’s Sign in Please album, which spawned their biggest hit “Turn Up the Radio” (heard below). The band never reached the heights of their debut and Richards left the band in 1988. He went on to work with another group, Dirty White Boy, but eventually exited the music business after suffering chronic back problems.

Our condolences to the family of Keni Richards and the extended family, fans and friends of Autograph.

Autograph, “Turn Up the Radio”
