Greg McShea

I've got a long connection to the Mohawk Valley, having attended Utica schools and graduating from Utica College with a B.S. Degree in Public Relations. I've hosted a number of radio programs, and my voice has been heard on the local airwaves through the years. When I'm not broadcasting, I enjoy reading science publications and sci-fi novels, traveling to some favorite vacation spots, and anything "Star Trek". I am a native of the Utica area and have many friends and family members in the area.

Watch John Lennon On Monday Night Football 1974 [VIDEO]

I used to love watching the original "Monday Night Football" on ABC, when it was a real show. You never knew who might appear at half-time with Howard Cosell, and that made it entertaining even if the game wasn't. And one night, John Lennon was the guest.

Check Out ‘Best Bars In America’ On Esquire [VIDEO]

To prepare for your "Beer Break At Work" on 96.1 WODZ weekdays at 3:20 p.m., I often do reasearch on the subject. Sometimes I get ideas by watching "Best Bars In America" on the Esquire Network. Actually, I seldom get ideas from this show, but the two guys hosting it are funny.

‘Scrooge’ Back At Utica’s Stanley Theater This Weekend

It's not the holiday season in central New York without the Players Of Utica presentation of "Scrooge! The musical' at the Stanley Center For The Arts. I've taken my family to see this production year after year, and it's this weekend!

Often a commercial can present a powerful positive message, and at Christmastime many advertisers want to do just that...send out a meaningful message. This Coca-Cola commercial ranks #2 of the Greg McShea all-time favorite holiday TV commercials, with a message I think we could all use today.

John Lennon – ‘Imagine’ If He Had Lived [VIDEO]

I recall where I was when the news came in that John Lennon had been shot in front of his home at the Dakota in New York City. Being a baby boomer, I lived through the assassinations of the 1960s....JFK, Martin Luther King, Jr. and Robert Kennedy, so hearing that John Lennon had been killed stirred up those memories of shock and loss.

How To Make Homemade Fruitcake For The Holidays [VIDEO]

We've all heard jokes about holiday fruitcakes. My father used to say that some people he knew were "nuttier than a fruitcake". In the McShea household we like fruitcake. My aunt used to make a great fruitcake but is no longer with us, and neither is her recipe. So, I searched for a good, easy to make fruitcake recipe.

Watch Roy Orbison’s Last Interview In 1988 [VIDEO]

One of my favorite recording artists is Roy Orbison, a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee. Many of his contemporaries considered Orbison's voice as the best in the busines, and on December 4, 1988 he gave his last live performance in Ohio, dying two days later of heart failure. On the day of that last concert he gave his final interview.

Enjoy ‘The Nutcracker’ This Weekend At Utica’s Stanley Theater

One of the favorite presentations during the holidays in central New York is "The Nutcracker", and it's this weekend at the Stanley Center For The Arts in Utica. Having seen this myself through the years, I'd say this is a holiday event that the whole family will enjoy.
