If you're like some of us around here, you mostly watch the Super Bowl for the hilarious commercials and the awesome new movie trailers. But there's one you won't be seeing on TV: Scarlett Johansson's Super Bowl commercial for SodaStream, which was banned from airing during the upcoming game.
While we still patiently await the first real footage and trailer from Marvel's upcoming 'Guardians of the Galaxy,' we've got yet another sneak peek at the new film via some promotional artwork. The designs, which will be used on future products tied-in with the film's release, feature heroic leading characters like Rocket Raccoon, Star-Lord, and Groot.
February brings action, adventure, and -- for some reason -- a lot of remakes to the big screen. We've got vampire school girls, exciting LEGO fun, RoboCops, romance, fantasy and so much more to help you escape the last of the winter blues. Read on for our guide to the new movie releases heading to theaters in February 2014.
Miles Teller has been picking up steam lately with roles in 'The Spectacular Now' and 'Whiplash,' which opened the festivities at this week's Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. And right on the heels of that premiere comes word of Teller's latest role: playing comedy icon Dan Aykroyd in the upcoming John Belushi biopic, starring Emile Hirsch. At least that's what Hirsch says.
Finally, after months of development, J.J. Abrams has confirmed that he's ready to move on to the next stage: this weekend at the Television Critics Association, the director confirmed that the script has been completed for 'Star Wars: Episode 7,' and that the production is now in "deep prep" on the upcoming film, which is scheduled for a December, 2015 release. Well that's a relief.
Dave Madden, beloved star of the classic television series 'The Partridge Family,' has passed away at the age of 83. Madden played the role of the family's oft put-upon band manager Reuben Kincaid, who often was annoyed by the shenanigans of young Danny, played by former child star Danny Bonaduce. Madden was also the star of the '70s show 'Laugh-In.'
Here's some pretty big news for Golden Globes weekend: Quentin Tarantino has apparently finished the script for his upcoming western film, which is reportedly titled 'The Hateful Eight,' and, if the rumors are true, he's already eyeing actors for two of the lead roles: Christoph Waltz (which would make sense), and Bruce Dern (which would make us so, so happy).
While 'Star Wars: Episode 7' has been gearing up for production, plenty of names have been rumored to have taken meetings with J.J. Abrams for roles in the upcoming trilogy. Now comes word of three actors whom Abrams has been eyeing for a possible leading role: Michael Fassbender, Hugo Weaving, and 'Girls' star Adam Driver. And we've also got some details on Abrams' reworked script, which is said to focus more heavily on Luke, Leia, and Han.
We're gearing up for the release of the (very) shiny new version of 'RoboCop' next month, and today brings a brand new international poster, which we've gotta say we're digging much more than the domestic posters we've seen so far -- but that's usually how these things go. As an added bonus, we've got a brand new photo from the film to go along with it, and to keep your interest piqued for the film's February release.
We're just a couple of weeks away from the premiere of 'Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit,' and you can check out an extended look at the action thanks to this new clip courtesy of Paramount. In the footage (shown above), Ryan (Chris Pine) is shown to a pretty sweet hotel suite in Moscow by a man named Emree (Nonso Anozie from 'Game of Thrones'), but things quickly take a turn for the deadly, as they often do in the action-packed, high-stakes world of the 'Jack Ryan' series.
It brings us great sadness to report this news on the first day of the New Year -- James Avery, the beloved actor who portrayed Uncle Phil on the hit '90s sitcom 'The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,' has passed away at the age of 68. Avery, who passed away late last night in Los Angeles, was an actor known for his warmth, and continued to appear on many TV shows over the years after 'Fresh Prince' concluded.
We're just a few days away from the debut of 'Paranormal Activity' spinoff 'The Marked Ones,' and today the folks behind the film have debuted a brand new teaser as part of their "Scream in the New Year" campaign. Partnering with Shock Till You Drop, they've released this teaser, entitled "Prayer," to help scoot you a little closer to the edge of your seat. We've been hearing some interesting things about the upcoming spinoff, and this teaser has us excited to ring in the new year with a few screams.
