Ubisoft has decided to take a more stealthy approach as the game formally known as Assassin's Creed Comet has gotten a brand new, official trailer, and it calls itself Assassin's Creed: Rogue.

UPDATE: Game Informer has confirmed Assassin's Creed Rogue as the final current-gen entry of the franchise. Both Rogue and Unity will be on the cover of Game Informer's September issue. We have learned that Rogue's main character is Shay Patrick Cormac, a former Assassin-turned-Templar. Rogue will fully utilize the same naval-based gameplay from Black Flag where you will traverse the frozen North Atlantic, Appalachian Rivery Valley and down to New York. Steering through the frozen waters will be a bit different than the open Caribbean. Shay's version of New York will be much different than the one Connor experienced in Assassin's Creed III. Also, we have learned that Shay is a Templar who specializes in hunting Assassins.

Rogue will take place during the Seven Years' War, which will help bridge the gap between Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag and Assassin's Creed III. It is likely that Shay will play a major role as to why Captain Kenway's son turned out to be a Templar. Due to France's involvement, it is suggested that Shay's adventure will tie-in to Assassin's Creed Unity's plot. Could Shay Patrick Cormac be a descendant of the Templar Arno rescued, or even, a descendant of both Arno and that Templar woman?

Unlike our original report, the official release states Assassin's Creed Rogue will not be coming to PC, and will only be available on Xbox 360 and PS3 on Nov. 11.

Game Informer has also posted the following behind the scenes video for both Assassin's Creed Rogue and Unity:

Original Story: Kotaku reports that this year's current-gen Assassin's Creed title, which had the working title of Assassin's Creed Comet, is going to actually be called Assassin's Creed Rogue, based on a leaked cinematic trailer. This trailer, which Ubisoft keeps trying to pull from the Internet, coincides with the ongoing rumors of the Comet project that you will be playing as a Templar. We know what you're thinking -- the Templar have always been billed as the big bad guys of the Assassin's Creed franchise. Obviously, the forename "Rogue" suggests that this character could be a former Templar who has gone against his order but still adheres to its methods of killing, or is some kind of Assassin who has entered the Templar order as a form of rogue/double agent.

This strange choice in a Templar protagonist reminds us of the recent Assassin's Creed Unity trailer, where Arno eagerly rescues a female Templar. As you can tell by the pictures of Rogue's leaked trailer (which have appeared on NeoGAF and an unofficial, South American Facebook page for Assassin's Creed), the Templar character has access to a ship. This also correlates to another ongoing rumor of Comet where your Templar character would be able to use a boat to visit various locations along the eastern seaboard. This snowy location suggests he's able to travel all the way up to Canada. Based on his clothing, rifle and boat, Rogue will likely be taking place during the 18th century, just like AC III and IV.

The cinematic trailer itself features someone who initially looks like an Assassin, but actually has a sword bearing red cross of the Templar order. The Templar jumps down from his boat onto the frozen landscape and takes aim with his rifle at a crouching Assassin. The trailer advertises a pre-order bonus that includes a pair of weapons, a set of sails and a ship wheel. Having your own choice of sails and ship wheels for your vessel would mean that the boat mechanics of the Black Flag will return.

Do you think this new Templar character knows where to hide bodies? Because we sure do.
