Remember when postcards could be seen just about anywhere you traveled?  Seems like these things are quickly disappearing thanks to the electronic age and our ability to basically create our own postcards right on social media sites like Facebook.

The U.S. Postal Service processed 770 million stamped postcards last year, down from 1.2 billion in 2010.  That is huge.  I’ll bet it’s down even more this year.

Experts said one reason for this is increased use of social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Instead of waiting for a postcard to travel through the mail, someone can share their vacation photo right after they take it.

Experts said another reason that people do not seem to be buying postcards anymore is because they are not as personal as sharing a picture you took yourself.
