Duct tape can do anything! There are thousands of ways you can use the most handy "tool" ever made, and know researchers have discovered that duct tape may offer an inexpensive way to help reduce the spread of infections in hospitals. The infection prevention team at the Trinity Medical Center in the Quad Cities on the Iowa/Illinois border created a safety zone with duct tape to help patients in isolation communicate with caregivers and loved ones. This simple change resulted in big savings:

The study reported that a 504-bed Midwestern health system saved as much as 2,700 hours and $110,000 a year by utilizing the Red Box safe zone. - The Money Times

The duct tape safety zone replaced the old practice of doning protective garb to communicate with people in isolation which was more expensive and time consuming. Score another one for duct tape!
