Here we go again. During rehearsals for a singing competition more than 80 singers fall with the stage. Several are severely injured. After a 16.4 foot fall for 80 people it could have been much worse.

There was another stage collapse just last week at a Indiana high school where students were performing the musical 'American Pie'. More that a dozen were injured.

Sugarland was about to perform when high winds took the stage down at  the Indianapolis State Fair. 7 were killed and at least 50 injured.

Metallica had a partial stage collapse while performing 'Enter Sandman" in Mexico City a few years ago. A guy actually caught on fire. Some say this was planned for their movie and the crown knew about it, but others say no way.

Stage Collapse 25 Injured in Rosary High School Show in California last year.

Bottom line is are people safe when on stage during musicals, chorus, band performances, graduation and whatever else they're on stage for?  Do we need to have certain guidelines depending on the condition of the stage? Who tells us the condition of the stage? Do you think it's time to figure it out? My daughter is in a dance recital in a few weeks and I want to check the stage out myself and make sure it's safe. The problem is I wouldn't know what I'm looking at. We have to trust other people to put it together correctly and to tell us if it's in safe condition. Something else we have no control over.
