The past two summers, this small town in Upstate, New York town was flooded with massive downpours, but this year, the Livingston County town remains the driest around.

Certainly there are advantages to dry weather, like not having to mow the lawn, and not having the basement flooded, but at this point,  Avon, New York is welcoming some more rain; lots of it. They are currently the driest town in all of Upstate, New York.

According to Syracuse.Com:

In the 20 counties covered by the severe drought designation, Avon has had the least precipitation since April 1. A total of 4.43 inches has fallen here, about a third of normal, according to NOAA's regional climate center data.

Area farmers are seeing a smaller crop field, and some of them are pumping up to 400,000 gallons of water a day to help all of their produce grow.

Area residents continue to hope for rain, but the immediate forecast only calls for a 4/10 chance of showers and thunderstorms on Friday, with the next small chance of precipitation not occurring until next Wednesday. Avon last saw a tiny bit of rain on August 31, but that's not nearly enough.

In the mean time, they can keep hoping for the best.
