Andy Warhol’s ‘Tom Seaver’ Makes A Surprise Appearance At The Baseball Hall Of Fame
My girlfriend and I woke up yesterday and very randomly decided to head on down for a quick road trip to Cooperstown for the Baseball Hall of Fame Induction weekend. I hadn’t visited since I was a boy and thought this should be fun! We expected a huge hustle and bustle surrounding the induction ceremonies that yesterday but was surprised to find parking virtually right outside the hall! That wasn’t the only surprise though… Andy Warhol is the subject of our Studio 54 Party coming on August 9th to MWPAI and don’t ya know I ran into a print of his on the wall inside! You def won’t see it at our party but here’s a peek to get ya in the mood to see more in August.
Andy did this screen printing of Tom Seaver (as a Cincinatti Red) back in 1977 as one of ten in his Athletes Series (worth $5.6 Million as a whole) which included the likes of O.J. Simpson, Pele’, Jack Nicklaus and Muhammad Ali to name a few. Here’s the original Polaroid for comparison:
