The United States government is advising that Windows PC users uninstall Apple's Quick Time video player because of glitches and bugs in the program.

Bugs in the Quicktime system are exposing users to potential security threats and viruses due to to the fact that Apple is phasing out, and ending their support of the program. According to Reuters.com:

Trend Micro said it had uncovered two critical vulnerabilities in the version of the QuickTime media player for Microsoft Corp's Windows operating system, which could be leveraged to launch attacks on PCs if users visit a malicious web page or open a tainted file.

The Department of Homeland Security, said that at this point in time, the only appropriate course of action is uninstalling the software.

Note: The warning does not apply to Apple's Mac computers.
