A Tractor May Be to Blame For The Kirkville Fire
The Kirkville brush fire in Onondaga County, that could be seen from miles away, was accidental and may have started from a tractor.
Kirkville Volunteer Fire Chief Kevin Bell tells Syracuse.com, "if anything overheats, it can set grass on fire if it's dry enough."
A resident in the area of the fire tells WKTV, "a neighbor was mowing grass, and the grass caught fire."
The fire, which began a little after 7:00 pm Friday, May 20th behind Titan Steel on Kirkville Road North according the Manilus police department, burned approximately 100 acres and required the resources of more than twenty-five fire agencies.
Luckily no one was seriously injured in the blaze.
