On this beautiful Thursday afternoon, I had a blast at the Clinton Farmer's Market. From fresh squeezed lemonade, homemade baked goods, kettle corn, and gyros galore, there was no shortage of food or local produce available on the crowded Village Green in Clinton. I had the pleasure of meeting David Steinbach from Iron Hoof Farm, located in Lee Center, NY.

Founded in 2007, this family operated farm aims to grow quality vegetables that are safe to eat while not harming the environment. Utilizing an integrated pest management system, Iron Hoof Farm is unique in that a team of draft horses handles most farming operations.

Working with horses is special. The bond that develops with the animals is unique and allows you to connect and enjoy nature while working.  Given the heavy industrialization of today’s agriculture, working with draft horses is relevant at the scale of our farm.  It also supplies the farm with a continuous source of manure.

If you want local and fresh the Clinton Farmer's Market is the place to be! Check out my interview with Iron Hoof Farm below:

The Clinton Farmer's Market is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Thursday June through August on the Village Green in Clinton.
