I remember owning the soundtrack on vinyl, but it’s hard to believe it’s been 35 years since Joliet Jake (John Belushi) and Elwood (Dan Akroyd) Blues, better known as The Blues Brothers, set out on their mission from God.  This cult classic continues to capture audiences even to this day due to the great music, great comedy, and of course great car chases.  The film was a great success due largely to the appearances of musical artists such as James Brown, Cab Calloway, Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, and John Lee Hooker.

It also featured an all star cast with big names such as Carrie Fisher, Stephen Spielberg, Henry Gibson, John Candy, and more.

Jake is just released on parole and picked up by his brother Elwood.  Their first stop is to meet with the “Penguin”, or the Nun who was in charge of the orphanage where they grew up.  She explains to them that the orphanage is in trouble, but she won’t accept money earned from their criminal activity.  Therefore, they decide to get the old band together to put on the performance of a lifetime to raise funds for the orphanage.

The quest to get the band back together proves to be not as easy as it seems, and comedy and mayhem ensues.

Take a look at this clip from the movie and go back in time with me for a moment.
