Expect gusty winds and a cold Easter Sunday. Unfortunately, this not an April Fools joke, the news comes straight from the National Weather Service.

You might want to have your Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday as temperatures in the 50's are a little more comfortable for the kids. As far as the anglers go, we don't know what to tell ya. It will be cloudy for your first day of trout season. That's a plus, right?

A cold front will be moving through Saturday evening with an area of rain showers ahead of the front...mixing with snow after midnight...and changing to all snow by Sunday morning as the colder air pushes in. Rainfall amounts will generally be less
then a quarter of an inch.

The main concern will be the strong winds...initially out of the SW ahead of the front around 20-30 mph across the lake plain of central NY...and then shifting to the w/nw behind the front 10 to 20 mph Easter Sunday morning...slowly diminishing through
the day. With temperatures in the 30s and strong winds...conditions will feel much colder...wind chills in the teens. There is the potential for some light lake effect snow
showers on Sunday as well...mainly in the morning from the Thruway northward. Winds from 280-300 deg and 850mb temps around -10 to -12 deg C... combined with a long lake-to-lake connection upstream should be sufficient to get at least a weak
lake band going during this time. The limiting factor will be the limited amt of moisture and the shallow nature of the mixed layer...only around 5-6kft deep. Have increased snow amounts slightly with the forecast this morning, but still only around 2-3 inches in nrn Oneida county...with 1-2 inches from nrn Onondaga/Madison/srn Oneida... and less

than 1 inch south of there. [National Weather Service]
