And the Grammy goes to…

It’s that time again where artists come together and contend for the golden gramophone at the 2017 Grammy Awards. This year’s event is shaping up to be an exciting one with performances from Beyonce, Chance the Rapper, The Weeknd, A Tribe Called Quest, Anderson .Paak, a Prince and George Michael tribute and more.

Speaking of Queen Bey, despite winning 20 awards, she has never won the coveted Album of the Year trophy. The R&B mom-to-be garnered nine nominations for for her album, Lemonade. If she wins just eight of the nine nominations, she’ll pass Alison Krauss as the winningest female artist in the history of the awards.

We would be remiss to not mention that Beyonce will have to compete with fellow singer Adele who has five nominations, including Album of the Year for 25. Both singers are nominated in two big categories – Song of the Year and Record of the Year – so it’s shaping up to be a showdown between two pop superstars.

Meanwhile Kanye West, Drake and Rihanna have all earned eight nominations apiece. Chance the Rapper follows with seven nominations for his album, Coloring Book.

As you can see, there are plenty of artists hoping to bring some some hardware tonight.
